“The Downtown 500”  was the name given to a collective of artists that worked and lived in SoHo in the 1980s. The Downtown 500 consisted of artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Madonna, and Debbie Harry. Please watch the clip to learn more about the origins of the name.
